Wavemaker Impact launches Zentide with US$525,000 investment to drive sustainable agricultural innovation

JAKARTA, 4 March 2025 – Wavemaker Impact, Southeast Asia’s leading climate-tech venture builder, has launched Zentide, a pioneering startup transforming tropical seaweed into sustainable biostimulants and biofertilisers.

Modern agriculture is at a crossroads, grappling with degraded soils, an overreliance on synthetic fertilisers, and mounting emissions. Smallholder farmers in Southeast Asia bear the brunt of these challenges. Yet, hidden beneath the waves lies an untapped solution—tropical seaweed, a sustainable powerhouse ready to transform farming and fight climate change.

Led by Founder and CEO Zachary Nice, Zentide is on a mission to create natural, scalable solutions that address the pressing challenges of modern agriculture. By leveraging tropical seaweed as a resource, Zentide’s products improve soil health, help farmers reduce reliance on synthetic fertilisers, and contribute to climate resilience. Seaweed’s rapid growth and high carbon-sequestering potential make it an ideal cornerstone for sustainable agricultural practices.

As Southeast Asia’s pioneering climate tech venture builder, Wavemaker Impact partners with experienced entrepreneurs to launch sustainability startups, with the goal of reducing 10% of the global carbon budget by 2035. Each startup that Wavemaker Impact builds is a ‘100×100’ company—with the potential to abate 100 million tons of C02e and generate US$100 million revenue per year.

Zentide’s vision is to unlock the potential of natural resources to drive sustainable agriculture, reduce emissions, and uplift coastal communities,” said Zachary, who brings over 20 years of dynamic leadership across logistics, marketing, and climate-focused initiatives to Zentide. “With Wavemaker Impact’s support, we’re not just scaling our business—we’re scaling impact.”

At the core of Zentide’s operations is a commitment to community collaboration and environmental stewardship. The company’s solutions aim to empower coastal communities by creating new economic opportunities for seaweed harvesters while addressing global challenges like soil degradation and rising agricultural emissions.

Zentide exemplifies the kind of startup that embodies our mission to tackle climate change through innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Guillem Segarra, Principal at Wavemaker Impact. “By harnessing the untapped potential of tropical seaweed, Zentide is creating real solutions for farmers, communities, and the planet. We’re proud to support Zachary and the Zentide team as they lead the charge toward a more sustainable agricultural future.”

The investment from Wavemaker Impact will allow Zentide to enhance its product development, scale operations across Indonesia, and form strategic partnerships to maximise its reach. Zentide is actively seeking collaborations with organisations that share its vision of sustainable agriculture and environmental responsibility.
